Writing Tip–Save Your Back

Today’s writing tip is all about you. Writing doesn’t always come easy, as we all know. It takes time, effort, and lots of thinking. Writers can’t afford distractions. There’s no worse distraction than a sore back.

When setting up your writer’s office, whether it be a formal studio or just the kitchen table, take care for your comfort. Make sure the lighting is adequate. Have your dictionary and thesaurus close by–or at least a shortcut on your computer to get to online sources. Take the time also to consider your options in office chairs. A good office chair is an investment, not just in a monetary sense, but also for your back.

Try out several chairs. Make sure you have adequate back support. This is so important. If you’re setting goals to write #### words a day or for ## hours, your environment should be such that your focus is on your work. Make your writer’s office comfortable, and you’ve made it easier for you to create.
