The Fight To Stay Organized
Some days it’s hard enough getting out of bed, let alone trying to stay organized and productive. I swear some days I feel as if I should put on my running shoes before I get to the computer.
Take yesterday, for example. My computer was in anything but a cooperative mood. After trying to write a blog post, it hung up. I only hoped the auto-save had kicked in before the computer froze. I decided to follow my own advice from yesterday, which was supposed to be today, by the way, and wait it out. Slowly, my computer starting showing signs of life. Then, it froze again. I shut it off.
Lesson One: Always use the auto-save feature on your blog, your word processor, etc.
By now, I was more than a bit frustrated. My push to stay organized led to anything but staying on my schedule. I patiently waited for my computer to re-boot. That’s when I decided that that was a great idea. I should re-boot too. I grabbed my Nikes and went out for a quick walk around the neighborhood. I returned refreshed and ready to do battle once again.
Lesson Two: Sometimes, you have to hit Ctrl-Alt-Del for you too.
Now, feeling a bit anxious about having lost so much time, I tried to get my focus back. One thing that always helps me at times like this is to try and get through several small tasks, a productivity push, if you will. Seeing all those lovely checkmarks is very motivating. Soon, it didn’t look like I had wasted a morning with a fussy computer. I was back on track.
Lesson Three: Build up your momentum.
So, I was able to pull the day together. I stayed organized, kept to my to-do list, and even managed to run a few errands. Life is so much better when you take a calm approach to things.
