Tech Tip — Your To-Do Folder

As much as you try to keep up, there will be times when time gets away from you. You want to stay current with your industry, the blogs you read. Today’s tech tip addresses the concerns that you may feel that you’re getting behind. A simple to-do folder can help you get a handle on organizing your day.

Here’s how I use it. I keep up with the news. With all of the great information out there and helpful Twitter users, I find lots of sites that I want to investigate further. Once in awhile, I’ll come across a post or article that I know will take some time to digest. When I’m in a rush for time, I’ll bookmark those articles in a to-do folder I created in my browser. At least I’ve saved the information, however, in order for it to be useful, I need to do more.

Once a week, I schedule a time for me to go through my to-do folder. No longer are the pages that I’ve bookmarked lost ideas. I may come back to some with fresh eyes and dismiss them after some time away. Other times, I’ll have the time to pour over that very informative article and perhaps put some tips to use.

In any case, I’m getting a handle on the distractions of the day. I still skim sites and blog posts, but rather than letting myself get off track, I plan my time for review. With a schedule, you can gain back control of your day.
