Tech Tip — Start Over To Fix Problems
Today’s tech tip is about saving your sanity. Some days, you love your computer. Those are the days when it’s running quickly and error free. Work is a breeze. Other days, you want to throw it against the wall, stomp on it until every microchip is crushed into oblivion. You know the days.
Every once in awhile, it will happen. You’ll get some goofy error or something stops working. All of a sudden, you may have no mouse or no keyboard. The number lock stops working mysteriously. Those are precisely the times you need to step back, take a deep breath, and restart your computer.
For whatever reason, a Windows file may get corrupted resulting in some goofy type of error. It’s not permanent (usually). It’s not the time to place a call into tech support. Before you do anything, restart your computer. Windows will reload all those start up files. Chances are, the mysterious error will disappear. If you haven’t changed anything, deleted any system files, or have done anything else, restart first. If the problem is still there, then escalate the process. Otherwise, relax.
