Writers are the luckiest people on Earth. With the power of the pen, writers can travel to anyplace they dream. Climb mountains. Boat the Pacific Ocean. You can travel back in time or imagine a world of the future. You can walk the streets of London or canoe the Boundary Waters. One of my dreams would be to travel Alaska.

In real life, I’m scared of bears. I don’t know why. I’ve never seen one in the wild. I’ve never encountered one, but when I walk the trails in bear country, I admit to looking back once in awhile. If I wrote the adventure of Alaska travel, I could camp in Denali Park with no fears of a grizzly attack.

That’s the wonderful thing about writing. We create our worlds and populate them as we see fit. We can face our fears. We can live our dreams. What a gift we have to harness the amazing power of our imagination. To approach your writing with this in mind can empower you. You can free the Muse to inspire your work.
