Nice to see you again! Join in the discussion!

Since April 2004, the Copyright Society of the U.S.A. has recognized Copyright Awareness Month.

As writers and artists, the value of awareness cannot be oversold. Our livelihood, in fact, depends upon knowledge and understanding of what our rights as creators are and the awareness of the general public. With the explosion of blogs and social networking, the mission of the Copyright Society of the U.S.A. is more important than ever.

As writers, we appreciate the effort, sweat, and emotion that we invest in a creative work. We respect the efforts of other artists. We understand the value of being compensated for our work and receiving proper credit. For the gift we provide society as a whole, the guarantee of our rights as artists is just compensation.

Writers, I urge you to know your rights. Your rights begin the moment you create.
